The Moose of the Cape Breton Highlands

Although they're not as commonly spotted these days, there was a time when moose were so plentiful in the Cape Breton Highlands, it was a normal thing to see a dozen in one day.  There are still plenty of moose in northern Cape Breton and it's likely that you would see at least one during a trip through the park.  The Skyline Trail, on top of North Mountain and anywhere between Neil's Harbour and Ingonish are the most likely places to spot a moose but they can be spotted anywhere in the park and along the Cabot Trail.  They are amazing to watch but care needs to be taken when driving in moose country because they like to wander out onto the roads and into traffic.
