Number One Yet Again!

Well, it has happened again. For the third time in less than a year, Cape Breton Island has been voted best island in the world! Travel and Leisure magazine gave the rating based on criteria such as scenery, culture and history. With the scenic Cabot Trail (which has been voted most scenic drive in North America), the Fortress of Louisbourg (which is a full-scale replica of an 18th century French fortress), and a culture that is a mix of French, Scottish and Micmac, Cape Breton certainly meets all the criteria required to receive this coveted title! It seems people the world over are finally starting to take notice of this tiny island situated just off the East Coast of Mainland Nova Scotia. But locals and many tourists who have visited the island in the past have known all along what the island has to offer. The island welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists every year and with this newly released information, those numbers will surely go up with many North Americans on a tight travel budget following the recent economic crisis realizing that they don’t need to travel south to the Caribbean to vacation in an Island Paradise. I guess this means I will no longer have my favorite beach all to myself anymore! View article here: http://mediacentre.canada.travel/content/travel_story_ideas/best_island_cape_breton

It's even stranger that Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix died so close to each other (I think it was within the same couple of months). As apparently Brian Jones was saying he wanted to start a new band with Hendrix and John Lennon. The Rolling Stones had just kicked him out when he died so it really is possible they were both killed to prevent this happening. If this band had really happened they would have rivalled the Rolling Stones and the Beatles (it possibly could have split up the Beatles if he's poached John Lennon, they split up pretty soon after anyway) and a lot of people were making a lot of money out of them at the time. The British music industry was full of people with links to organised crime and possible links to the CIA at the time too so it wouldn't have been hard for them to get some thugs together and pay them to do it.

That's really cool that you live there and it got such an award! I live in a city where we get awards like best nightlife and best bars (I live in Las Vegas) and since I don't drink, its not that great :) I would love to live in a place like that!
